Since this keeps coming up in game, PMs, etc. I figure a post might help. There have been a number of changes to the setting since the old World of Darkness that so many people are familiar with. So please help me compile a list of some of the more prominent topics about the setting. And storytellers, if anything is different please let us know.
Elysium is very different now. It's not set by the Prince, Keeper, or any local authority. Historical and cultural sites are chosen by higher ups. Even though it is a Camarilla thing, it is also considered a neutral ground where "kindred in good standing" can show up. NO violence is permitted, except in extreme circumstances where the keeper needs to defend Elysium. There is a list of common laws which can be changed slightly by the local Prince's courtesies (local laws) on page 385. If these laws are broken and word gets out to other cities, it can be considered a scandal and have large repercussions for the city.
The Gangrel left the Camarilla (again) since the old world story line, and have not officially been brought back into the fold. They are no longer a pillar clan. This happened during the Red Star and Nights of Turmoil, when the Gangrel Justicar's warnings went unheard in the Inner Circle (The leaders of the Camarilla; members are not known but it is assumed that there is one of each pillar clan).
Also during the Nights of Turmoil, an Assamite Methuselah rose and broke the Tremere curse on his clan. His rule however, split the clan as many did not want to return to the old ways. A Sorcerer and his followers, mostly Viziers, split off from Assamites and joined the Camarilla. They are now a pillar clan. Justicar Tegyrius of clan Assamite was appointed, and afterwards the Inner Circle granted him authority over the Josian Archons; a group dedicated to finding, gathering intelligence on, and eliminating Gehenna cults, infernalism, diablorists, and other such dangers to the Camarilla.
The founder of the Giovanni clan, Augustus Giovanni, has gone missing after an attack on their compound. The clan broke The Promise, a treaty with the Inner Circle of the Camarilla. They turned to the Followers of Set and signed a treaty (which is on page 38). The Camarilla was about to declare war on the Giovanni for breaking The Promise when the Followers of Set intervened. Basically the Followers of Set walked into the Inner Circle and off loaded who-knows-how-many boons to save the Giovanni from the Camarilla.
The Camarilla has recently changed it's stance on the Antediluvians, and instructed elders to subtly enforce these ideas. Their stance before was that these creatures didn't exist, but now the founders of their clans are considered "loving fathers and mothers".
The prophesied Red Star came, but Caine did not. The Nights of Turmoil were filled with bloodshed on every end. Many of the changes
